Today, I want to take you back in time..
Back to the moment I was just certified, and after having learned all this precious knowledge about sleep, sleep science, and so on, I had this thought that (and maybe you recognize it)..
“If I share too much, parents won’t need to work with me.”
So, I held back. I’d drop little teasers of advice, hoping to make parents curious enough to book with me.
But here’s what actually happened… They didn’t get curious—they got frustrated.
And you know what? I don’t blame them.
Because parents aren’t coming to you because they can’t Google sleep tips. They’re coming to you because they’re overwhelmed.
They don’t need vague, half-baked answers. They need someone they can trust. Someone who cuts through the noise and says, “Here’s what works for YOU.”
Today, I’m going to share with you why holding back your knowledge is hurting your business, and why freely sharing is the fastest way to get booked, and to build trust so parents see you as the expert they NEED.
But before we dive in answer this..
Have you ever caught yourself thinking…
❌ “If I give away too much, why would they hire me?”
❌ “I don’t want to post too many sleep tips—I’ll lose clients!”
Have you? No judgement. I GET IT. I used to think the exact same thing.
But here’s the problem with that mindset: People don’t pay for information.
Think about it… Parents can Google “how to sleep train” right now and find thousands of articles, YouTube videos, and AI-generated step-by-step guides.
🚨 If your entire business is built on “I have secret sleep tips,” you’re replaceable.
The truth is, your VALUE isn’t in the information.
Your value is in:
✨ Being their trusted guide (because Google can’t reassure them when things get tough).
✨ Providing accountability & support (because AI waits for a problem—you proactively help).
✨ Tailoring strategies to their unique family (because a checklist doesn’t know their baby).
And the more you share your knowledge, the MORE they trust you.
Nobody books with the sleep consultant who is vague and hesitant. They book with the one who says, “Here’s what works, and here’s how I can help you apply it.
So let me tell you about the moment everything changed for me.
I was doing a free Q&A in a Facebook group. A mom asked, “My 8-month-old wakes up every 2 hours. What should I do?”
My old self would have said:
❌ “Well, sleep training depends on a lot of things! If you’re interested, we can chat about working together.”
Sounds safe, right? But here’s the thing—it wasn’t helpful, It felt like a sales pitch.
Instead, I decided to test something…
✅ I gave a real, detailed answer.
✅ I explained why her baby most likely was waking.
✅ I gave her a real strategy to try that night.
Guess what happened?
That same mom booked a consult with me the next day.
Why? Because she trusted me.
She saw that I knew my stuff, that I wasn’t holding back, and she wondered that if she got THIS much value for free, what working together would be like.
The lesson? The MORE I shared, the MORE clients I got.
So STOP bread crumbing information. Give real, valuable advice. Show them that you are the expert who can simplify the chaos.
Okay, but you might still be thinking…
“But if I give away too much, won’t they just take my advice and never hire me?”
Nope. Because information is NOT the reason parents book you.
Implementation is.
Here’s how you share value while still leading them to work with you:
1. Share the WHAT, But Not the HOW
✅ Example: “Your baby is likely waking at night because they’re overtired before bed.”
❌ DON’T just leave it at that.
✅ DO say: “I work with parents 1:1 to create personalized schedules that actually work. DM me if you need help setting one up!”
2. Focus on Trust-Building Over Selling
✅ Show up consistently—on social media, in blogs, in groups.
✅ Be helpful without always pushing for a sale.
✅ The more they see you as the **go-to sleep expert,** the more they’ll naturally want to work with you.
3. Position Yourself as the Guide, Not Just the Information Source
✅ AI and Google provide information.
✅ YOU provide clarity, reassurance, and real application.
Example: “There are a lot of methods out there, but the key is finding the RIGHT one for your baby’s temperament. That’s what I help parents figure out in my consultations.”
When parents see that you are the missing link between information and results, they will WANT to work with you.”
So, let’s recap:
1️⃣ Holding back information doesn’t make people curious—it makes them lose trust.
2️⃣ Parents don’t hire you for sleep tips—they hire you for clarity, support, and accountability.
3️⃣ The more you share, the more parents will see you as the expert they NEED.
Now, here’s your action step:
Pick one sleep question you get asked often and answer it FULLY—whether that’s in a social media post, a blog, or a video.
And then? Watch how much easier it becomes to attract clients.
