Branding & Design for Sleep Consultants

One year ago my Instagram account got hacked and I One year ago my Instagram account got hacked and I lost 6 years of intense work AND CONTACTS!!

I knew that relying solely on social platforms is like building your house on rented land, but that was the moment I started taking my email list VERY seriously...

Here are some reasons why YOU TOO should start building an email list...

1. Direct Communication: An email list provides a direct line of communication with your potential clients. Unlike social media platforms where algorithms can limit your reach, emails go straight to your subscribers' inboxes, ensuring your message gets seen.

2. Relationship Building: Email marketing allows you to build stronger relationships with your audience. By delivering valuable content directly to their inbox on a regular basis, you can establish trust, credibility, and loyalty over time.

3. Targeted Marketing: With an email list, you have the ability to segment your audience based on their interests, behaviors, or demographics. This allows you to tailor your marketing messages to specific groups within your audience, increasing the relevance and effectiveness of your campaigns.

4. Higher Engagement: Email marketing often leads to higher engagement rates compared to other marketing channels. Since subscribers have willingly opted in to receive your emails, they are MORE likely to open, read, and act upon your messages.

5. Ownership and Control: Unlike social media followers or website visitors, your email list is a proprietary asset that you own and control. This means you're not reliant on third-party platforms and their ever-changing algorithms to reach your audience. Building an email list gives you greater control over your marketing efforts and the ability to connect with your audience on your terms.

And....

Email lists are far more personal than social media alone, and when you nurture your subscribers and consistently deliver valuable content, you have a greater chance of converting them into paying customers.

👇 Do you already have an email list?
How do you show up every single day, without ever How do you show up every single day, without ever sharing your guiding principles?

What do you want your clients to say about you, without you ever telling this.

Do you say every morning to your partner "I promise to not cheat on you today!"

No, that’s what you SHOW, don’t say…

Same for your brand... what are your guiding principles? What are those 3 words that when you're in front of a cross road, you look at these words and you know which direction you need to take....

To give you my own example…

1. SPEED - I want to be faster than anybody else out there. I don’t want you to wait 4 months for a website to be done, I deliver within 10 days. I don’t want you to wait 3 weeks for the first draft your logo, you’ll have it within 3 days and within 7 days you can go live. This is important to me, because time is money… But… I do this without comprising quality which brings me to my next principle.

2. EXCELLENCE - I want to blow people away, I want everything to look nice and neat. I want you to look at your website, logo, sleep plan, or whatever I design.. and feel freaking proud of it! I know how important this business is to you, and I want to contribute to that! And make it even better!

3. SIMPLICITY - I want to make business simple again.. we’ve been so overcomplicating it in the past years, that most sleep consultants who got certified feel so lost and overwhelmed.. and within months quit, because they don’t know what to prioritise. That’s why I build a program called the Business Starter, which takes newly certified sleep consultants step by step through all the necessary things to start and launch their business. Really taking out the guess work... (link in bio).

So for marketing… whatever I do.. these words are on top of my mind. Every design I make, every template I create, every website I build, every call I have I ask myself..

Can I make it even BETTER, can I SPEED up the process, can I make it EASIER?

👇 What are your guiding principles? What do you want to be known for?
It's that time of the year again, to update the co It's that time of the year again, to update the copyright date in your website footer, this is SUPER important for keeping your content protected!

Why does it matter? By keeping the copyright date current, you make sure that your work is legally recognized and protected under copyright laws. It also shows professionalism and attention to detail, which builds trust with your potential sleep consulting clients.

Here’s how to update it:
1. Head to your website editor.
2. Find the footer section where the copyright notice is.
3. Update the year to the current one (2025).
4. Save and publish!

If you’re not sure how to make the change or run into any issues, just comment below. I’m always happy to help!

What if.... You set 1 daily task... Make sure it What if.... You set 1 daily task...

Make sure it's something that will really move the needle forward in your business. So I'm not talking about checking your email, posting on Instagram or updating your website. I'm more talking about reaching out to a potential partner, or reaching out to 3 potential clients and start a conversation for example...

Then you promise yourself to do this 30 days in a row...
With the condition, that for every day you skip, you have to burn 100 USD...

I mean literally... BURN IT!

How likely do you think you'll get the work done?

👇 Would you dare to take on this challenge?
Don’t go fancy with your navigation bar. It will Don’t go fancy with your navigation bar. It will confuse your page visitors, and a confused mind won’t take any action.

And… that’s the last thing you want, right?

Also don’t add too many links. 5-6 seems to be the sweet spot. If you do have more tabs, you can opt for a drop-down-menu that guides your visitors to another page.

But… I want to challenge you on this. How focused are you if you need a drop-down-menu? ;-)

What do you want to be known for? That’s the only thing that needs to be visible in your navigation bar.

I’ve worked with hundreds of Sleep Consultants in the last couple of years and (what most of you don’t know) is that 30% of my work is designing websites, sometimes from scratch, most often as a rebrand.

‼️ Friendly Reminder: PLEASE stop using photos ‼️ Friendly Reminder: PLEASE stop using photos that are NOT showcasing safe sleep practices!

I knooow.. they look so cute right…

But as a Sleep Consultant, you are a role model. You have a crucial role in educating and promoting safe sleep practices.

This responsibility extends not only to your content but ESPECIALLY to your visual appearance.

Avoid using photos that do not align with those guidelines…

1️⃣ Loose Bedding: Avoid images that showcase loose blankets, pillows, or stuffed animals in the crib.

2️⃣ Back to Sleep: Showcase babies sleeping on their backs, as recommended by pediatric experts. This position reduces the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).

3️⃣ Sleep Surfaces: Emphasize the use of firm mattresses and avoid images featuring unsafe sleep surfaces like sofas or adult beds.

4️⃣ Cribs: Ensure that the crib or bassinet shown in the pictures meets safety standards, with secure rails and no hazards that could potentially harm the baby.

5️⃣ Swaddles: If sharing images of swaddled babies, make sure the swaddle is properly executed, avoiding excessive tightness and allowing room for healthy hip development.

Make sure that you carefully choose pictures for your website and Instagram that align with safe sleep practices, rather than solely focusing on visual appeal.

Or work with a designer that IS a sleep consultant.. 😉 (hi there!)

Remember, as sleep consultants, it’s our responsibility to educate and promote safe sleep practices. Let’s lead by example and prioritize the well-being of all those little ones…

*Evidence-based recommendations to prevent infant sleep deaths can be found on the website of the AAP (American Academy of Pediatrics)

Set an alarm 15 minutes before everybody else wake Set an alarm 15 minutes before everybody else wakes up.

Get out of bed (or you can even do this in bed) and send a text to 3 people who might be interested in your services, or who might know a friend that could be interested (have a conversation - nothing awkward!)

Then...

Go enjoy the rest of your day...

If you do this short practice of 15 minutes, for 30 days straight - I can tell you (from experience) that you'll have your first or your next client lined up in no-time.

It's not that hard.. it's just uncomfortable.. ;-)
This is why and how to deal with it.. Our brains This is why and how to deal with it..

Our brains are wired to focus on negative experiences because, way back when, noticing danger (like a tiger) could save our lives. These days, there are no tigers, but our brains still treat criticism or negativity as a "threat," making it hard to shake off a negative comment, even if you’ve received TEN positive ones.

>> Why It’s So Hard to Let Go of Negative Comments <<

1. It’s a Survival Instinct.
Your brain sees negative experiences as urgent to avoid future harm, so one negative comment can feel way heavier than a flood of positive ones.

2. We Crave Validation.
Putting yourself out there online is vulnerable. A negative comment can feel like rejection, triggering that deep need to "fix" the situation for acceptance.

3. Your Inner Critic Chimes In.
Negative comments tend to amplify the self-doubt we already carry. If you’re questioning yourself, one comment can feel like confirmation of your worst fears (even if it’s not true!).

4. We Replay Negative Moments.
Our brains love to loop negative comments, trying to "solve" them. Unfortunately, this only makes the comment feel even bigger than it actually is.

>> How to Handle Negative Comments <<
The good news? You can retrain your brain to handle negativity better.

1. Pause and Breathe.
When a comment stings, take a moment (or longer) to calm yourself. Move your body, step away, or just take some deep breaths. This helps you process your reaction without spiraling.

2. Reflect on Why It Affects You.
Once you’re calm, ask yourself: Why did this comment hit so hard? Is there constructive feedback you can learn from? If yes, great—use it to grow. If not, let it go. It’s just a comment (easier said than done, right ;-))

3. Remember Your Worth.
A single comment doesn’t define you, your expertise, or the incredible work you’re doing for families. Negative comments are often more about the commenter than they are about you. Stay focused on your purpose and values—that’s what matters most.

You’re doing amazing work, and the families you help care far more about the difference you’re making than the opinions of someone behind a screen.
