Here’s where most Sleep Consultants totally psych themselves out.
You’ll have these amazing conversations with parents who are clearly drowning in exhaustion.
You nod. You empathize. You maybe even give them a golden nugget of advice.
And then… you just hope they magically say,
“So… how do I pay you?”
Spoiler alert: They won’t.
Not because they don’t need your help. But because people are busy, tired, and overwhelmed, and they don’t connect the dots on their own.
If you don’t make the first move, they’ll thank you for the chat, go back to their routine, and you’ll never hear from them again.
The Truth About Inviting
Inviting is the habit of actually asking people to take the next step with you.
And before you panic, no, this is not about awkward sales pitches or boring “discovery calls.”
Here’s why I don’t believe in the traditional “discovery call”:
❌ Too vague: “Discovery” doesn’t tell them what they’ll get.
❌ Not appealing: It sounds corporate, not caring.
❌ Bland: Everyone uses it — it doesn’t make you stand out.
❌ Lacks emotional clarity: Parents don’t want to “discover.” They want to solve.
❌ Feels salesy: Even if it’s not, the name alone puts people on guard.
The Better Way to Invite
Instead of “selling,” focus on showing.
Give them a small, clear win that demonstrates your expertise and gets them excited to work with you.
Think of it like those mini cookie samples at the grocery store, you try one, love it, and suddenly you’re walking out with a whole box.
For example:
Offer a free 15-minute Sleep Environment Audit.
Here’s how it could work:
- Parents show you their child’s sleep space during the sleep environment call
- You share 1–3 simple tweaks to make it more sleep-friendly (think: blackout curtains, white noise, safe cords, red lights, you know the drill…)
- They walk away with an instant improvement, and now they know you’re the person who can help them get the full result
Why This Works So Well
- You build trust by helping them before they pay you
- You stand out from all the free generic advice online
- You filter for commitment, if someone’s willing to hop on a quick call, they’re more likely to follow through with your program
- You stay top-of-mind, they’ve already experienced working with you, even for 15 minutes
Pro tip: These “mini-win” calls aren’t just for when you’re starting out. They’re your secret weapon when business slows down and you want to quickly refill your calendar.
Think about one small, valuable win you could give a parent in 15 minutes or less, something that would naturally lead into working with you for the full transformation.
The fastest way to get clients isn’t by perfecting your website, posting on social media for weeks without a response, or spending hours on Canva. It’s by talking to real people. This is about starting those conversations, the kind that lead to real bookings, and making it feel natural, friendly, and fun.
In my flagship program ‘From Crickets to Clients’ we’ll do it together…
1. First we’ll be doing a deep dive into your pricing, packaging, and positioning, because if you can’t explain it, you can’t sell it.. period.
2. Then we organize all of this information into a 5-step signature method that becomes the foundation for your business.
3. Next I’ll teach you the 8 habits of Highly-Booked Sleep Consultants, because success isn’t random, it’s the result of repeatable tasks.
4. And then we’ll be putting all of this into action, because the fastest path to clients is to do the things that actually get you clients (and.. nope, that’s not posting on Instagram).
Most people think booking a client takes months. Nope. It takes the right person, the right conversation, and the right invitation. In my flagship program ‘From Crickets to Clients’, I’ll show you exactly how to connect the dots, so ‘getting clients’ stops feeling like a far-off dream and starts being a weekly reality.
